For nearly two decades, Uyisenga Ni Imanzi (UNM) has been at the forefront of supporting vulnerable children in Rwanda. Over 3,000 children have accessed education from primary to university levels through UNM’s sponsorship. However, UNM’s impact extends beyond academics; it's also about building stronger families and creating sustainable futures.

In recent years, UNM expanded its efforts through the “Family Business for Education” initiative. This program provides selected families with a small grant, distributed in two phases, to help them start small businesses that directly support their children's school fees. It operates in three districts, empowering 150 families to take ownership of their children’s educational journey.
Families are not left alone; they receive home visits, therapy sessions, and guidance on saving habits. Each caregiver is encouraged to save weekly and engage in group savings promoting financial discipline and mutual encouragement

While some challenges have arisen, such as misuse of funds, the majority of families are progressing. They are saving consistently, tracking income, and proving that with the right tools, self-reliance can replace dependency. Parents who once relied solely on aid are now actively investing in their children’s future.
This initiative is part of UNM’s broader mission: to raise a generation of youth empowered through education, emotional healing, and economic independence.
